Simply Snow

Updated: Jan 25, 2019

Living in Canada quite often means you have experienced the wonders of the winter season. That very moment you peer out the window and see the first snowfall. The different shapes of snowflakes lightly falling down and being captured by the ground below. Some big. Some small. All beautifully designed into its very own ice-crystal shape.

Just recently I stepped outside my home in the silence of the early winter morning and gazed down the street to the beautiful tall trees covered in the white simplicity of snow. There is something about the sound of winter – so peaceful. As I could hear the light crunch of snow beneath my warm boots, my eyes felt childlike, seeing something new for the first time. Though I have seen the first snowfall many times in my life, it always amazes me how lost one can become by taking the beauty of winter in.

When thinking about art, your mind pictures colour. A stroke of a paintbrush to canvas, an imagination coming to life.

But what the first snowfall offers, isn’t something colourful, yet it is

so pleasing to the eye. Peace and calm.

This winter season, whether it is the first snowfall, or one of many, take a moment to appreciate the beauty before you. The opportunity to take a few moments to catch your breath. The universe gives us these opportunities many times, it is up to us to embrace the moment.
